Employment is a prerequisite need of every citizen of a country. Most Parents are doing their best to secure better future for their children by giving them the best Education. It is heart breaking when a poor Parent from nowhere spend all their sweat earn money on children and the end result is nothing but unemployment.
It is the dream of every youth to get employment after successful graduation from reputable institution. For some time now, the story of employment has changed to unemployment. The value of knowledge acquisition has changed to the lowest level. Now the level of knowledge acquisition and its related job opportunity is not the same. Graduates are doing the work of high school leavers with its related pay.
Politicians have been taken this weakness to blindfold the general public of doing their best by initiating social intervention programs to counter react the unemployment issues. To my best knowledge, successive governments are the reasons for this employment saga. It is atrocious for government to offer employment to 1st Degree holders and to pay them Ghc700 and below and at the same time thinking that, they are doing what no body has done before.
- On the other hand, for a graduate to secure a good employment due him, unless he or she has Parents and family members in the company or institution. The slogan "who knows you" (To whom you know as normally used) is the language of the 4th Republic of Ghana. As you go out from home, your eyes sees a lot of companies or organization but the big question is, how do I get there? Your mind start asking a lot of questions. Is my father the Manager in this company or my mother, uncle, brother, Sister or any of the family member? If none of the above mention is being tag with the Company, you walk straight home to sleep with pain and a thinking mind of while you are living on this Earth. It is really painful for most at times that our ladies go through sexual harassment just because of employment saga.
One danger our governments are turning blind eyes to, is the high rate of graduate unemployment(huge students graduating from our tertiary institutions at an increasing rate year after year ) without corresponding employment opportunity. The politicians easily buy our youth for Ghc 10 and material gifts just to engage in unfathomable activities in other to help them win election. Youth of today are very hungry and in anger. Social vices are at its peak.
Therefore my big question is ;
*are we save as youth?
*Is the country save now and tomorrow?

ReplyDeletethe leaders of today are greedy and take we the youth for granted. FOR THIS TO END, practical introduction of entrepreneurship must be added to the syllabi of the various edu. institution. so the granduant at least will have some practical work which he/she can depend on.
SAY NO TO UNEMPLOYMENT, ITS FOR THOSE WHO WANTS TO BE IN THAT CATEGORY, BUT FOR ME ? I'M OUT.
