TRAGEDIES IN GHANA’S ECONOMY: LABOR LAW

Every country has labor commission that enforces laws within it.These laws ensure that the labors enjoy the necessary benefits due them by the employer. They also streamline the security and dignity of the worker. My headache on this system is whether or not there is truly a labor law and a commission which regulate the performance of labor force in a country  .
Many youths are going through trauma at workplace just because they are unemployed and as a result offered opportunity by a private firm to work. Here in Ghana, you will work for 20 hours and be paid GHC17.50. It is really pathetic to see that, majority of the people who go through this situation are graduates from our tertiary institutions. I have no one to blame but the so called leaders or successive governments of this country. The poor economic management and selfish interest is the call of all these atrocious conditions .What is the minimum wage for this country? How much is a graduate suppose to be paid?Even successive governments are paying GHC23.00 to graduates and thinking that, they are doing what nobody has done before, then how much more the private person who establishes his business through difficulties and aiming at profit maximization.
I will never tolerate any social intervention policy by successive governments to the youth. If they think, they are doing what has never happened on this earth before, then they should give us, the youth, proper employment and pay us what is due us.The successive governments should stop those scrupulous tricks to blindfold many youth and poor parents.
Go out there and see, many are crying on the working conditions they are passing through at workplace. They cannot also stop just because there is no alternative job waiting for them and for that matter they have to endure the trauma in other to cater for their basic needs(food and shelter).
It is about time the government stop the Hippocratic policies and stand on their feet to look into the welfare of the youth. We are the future of this country.
My fellow youth, let's rise and say to the government"Enough is Enough"on the labor law.

  1. Interesting point of view. But look at it from this direction as well. How much do you think the Government can give to the youth which you will consider to be enough. And the truth it can never be done. Even in the most developed economies in the world, the youths still complain of hardship.

So the way forward does not lie with the Government but the youths. Until the youths come to the realization that they are the architect to their own future and as such must start finding ways of surviving in this seemingly difficult times they will always be where they are.

    My humble opinion
